Chairman, SJIHMCT, Palai

Msgr. Dr. Joseph Thadathil assumed the office of Chairman of SJIHMCT on February 22, 2025, bringing with him a remarkable blend of leadership, values, and faith. His inspiring words — infused with humour, satire, and paradox — have long captivated audiences, reflecting an artistic and amicable nature that defines his approach to both ministry and education.

A trailblazer in many respects, Msgr. Thadathil was the inaugural Rector of St. Alphonsa Shrine and played a pivotal role in elevating the Kuravilangad Marth Mariam Church to the esteemed status of the Major Archiepiscopal Marth Mariam Archdeacon Pilgrim Church — becoming its first Archpriest, and notably, the first Archpriest in the Syro-Malabar Church.

A distinguished scholar, he earned his doctoral degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian Institute in Rome in 1993. His thesis, on the concept of individual self according to Sankara, is regarded as a ground-breaking work that has garnered acclaim from scholars across disciplines. He has authored numerous books, reflecting his considerable literary range. As Proto-Syncellus, Msgr. Thadathil oversees significant administrative responsibilities within the Diocese of Palai, bringing the same leadership acumen to drive the institute's continued progress.
