The Everest Better Kitchen Culinary Challenge Season 5 is set to showcase the vibrant “Flavours of India” at St. Joseph’s Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in Choondacherry, Palai. Taking place on 24th Feb 2024, this culinary extravaganza is supported by prestigious entities like Incredible India – Ministry of Tourism, Worldchefs, Indian Culinary Forum, Western India Chefs’ Association (WICA), Chefs Association of Five Rivers, Varanasi Chefs Association, Culinary Forum of Goa, Telangana Chefs Association, and Hospitality Purchase Managers’ Forum (HPMF). The competition spans three rounds: Intra College, Semifinal (Region/State), and Final (National), with the Semifinal in Kottayam on the specified date. Team dynamics evolve from pairs in the initial rounds to individual competition in the national final. Participants in rounds two and three receive certificates, and each institute can field a maximum of four teams in the Semifinal. Celebrity culinary expert Dr.Lekshmi Nair is a distinguished figure in the culinary world and a popular YouTuber, renowned for her expertise in the art of cooking. With a wealth of experience, she has achieved celebrity status, sharing her passion for culinary arts with a global audience through engaging and informative content on YouTube.
Celebrity Chef Ammar Molki, renowned for his expertise in Arabic cuisines, leads Mafi Kitchen. Formerly from Byblos Restaurant, he has brought culinary excellence across the Mediterranean. Now captivating Bengaluru, he specializes in Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine, excelling in diverse culinary realms.

Rounds of Competition

First Round:

  • Open to all final year students without any fee, the competition will be held within the colleges under the supervision of the Principal and HoDs.

  • Round I must be completed at least 10 days prior to round 2.

Round Two:

  • Winners (Maximum 4 teams) of the first round are eligible to participate in the second round, which will be held at St. Joseph’s Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Palai, on 17th Feb 2024.

  • Online registration is mandatory.

  • Winners will receive the trophy, certificate, hampers, and apron. The 1st position (2 students) will be selected for the final round (National Level competition).

Round Three:

  • This will be the Final (National) round, where the semifinal winners (1st Position — 2 Students from 15 cities) and wild card entries will participate in Mumbai in the last week of March 2024. Students need to compete individually.

Prizes

  • In addition to the trophy, hampers, and chef coat, the national winner will receive a WCE Chef scholarship* through the Bridge USA J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, valued at USD 5750, with a duration of twelve months only.

  • The first and second runner-up will be awarded scholarships* worth USD 1000 and USD 750, respectively. These scholarships will be provided by the International Placement & Study Abroad Partner — Wisdom Career Education Pvt. Ltd.
