Admission Process & Guidelines
Admission to the academic programmes of St. Joseph’s Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology is carried out in accordance with the norms and regulations prescribed by the affiliating university and competent authorities.
1. Programme Offered
The Institution offers the Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) programme affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
2. Eligibility for Admission
A candidate shall be eligible for admission provided that he/she has passed the Higher Secondary Examination or an equivalent examination recognized by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, with not less than 45% marks in aggregate.
3. Admission Process
Admission to the BHM programme is conducted through the following modes:
- 50% of seats are filled directly by the Management
- 50% of seats are filled through the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University
4. Application Procedure
- Eligible candidates may apply through the University CAP portal or directly to the Institution, as applicable.
- Applicants must submit all required documents at the time of admission.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
5. Documents Required at the Time of Admission
- Mark sheets of qualifying examination
- Transfer Certificate (TC)
- Conduct Certificate
- Migration Certificate (if applicable)
- Caste / Community Certificate (if applicable)
- Passport-size photographs
- Any other documents prescribed by the University or Institution
6. Reservation Policy
Reservation of seats shall be followed as per the norms and regulations prescribed by the Government and Mahatma Gandhi University from time to time.
7. Fee Payment
Candidates admitted to the programme are required to remit the prescribed fees within the stipulated time. Details of the fee structure are available on the Fee Structure page of the website.
8. General Guidelines
- Admission once granted is provisional and subject to verification of documents.
- The Institution reserves the right to cancel admission if any information provided is found to be incorrect.
- Students are expected to comply with the rules and regulations of the Institution and University.
- All admissions are subject to University approval.
